1st COP, 22 -24 November 2000, Brussels (Belgium): Adoption of industrial accident (both future and past ones) recording systems, as well as a detailed list of criteria for the notification of industrial accidents. Guidelines were also adopted for the determination of hazardous (industrial) activities. There was also an agreement on the cooperation with the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (The UN/ECE Water Convention) for industrial accidents that may affect water resources.

High Level Commitment Meeting (Under the auspices of the COP), 14 - 15 December 2005, Geneva (Switzerland): Declaration of states-parties with economies in transition aimed at finding solutions and resources for optimal implementation of the Agreement (Assistance Programme).

6th COP, 8 – 10 November 2010, The Hague (Netherlands): Adoption of a Long Term Strategy for the implementation of the Agreement with five key objectives: greater involvement of states and other actors, exchange of information, the strengthening of the Assistance Programme, developing strategic partnerships, finding sustainable financial resources.

Joint Special Session of the Conference of the Parties, 21 – 22 July 2001, Geneva (Switzerland): Adoption of a Joint Tast-Force between the two Agreements: UN/ECE Accident Convention & UN/ECE Water Convention.

Second Joint Special Session, 21 May 2003, Kiev (Ukraine): Adoption of Protocol on Civil Liability and Compensation for Damage Caused by the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents on Transboundary Waters, a common Protocol for both Agreements.
